Real UI vs Generated UI in Product Demo Videos

Why source-linked browser capture is a durable differentiator for SaaS and web app launch videos.

Generated interface motion can be attractive, but attractiveness and product evidence are different jobs. A product demo earns trust when the viewer can connect the claim to an interface that actually exists.

The risk of a recreated interface

A model may simplify a complex layout, change a label, invent a result state, or combine screens that never appear together. Even a minor mismatch creates an awkward launch problem: the video promises an experience the user cannot reproduce.

What source linking changes

A source-linked storyboard records the URL, intended action, and supporting page fact for every scene. Review becomes specific: a maker can correct the action or claim instead of saying that the whole video “feels off.”

It also makes maintenance possible. When a workflow changes, the team can identify affected scenes, capture them again, and preserve the rest of the sequence.

Real does not mean visually raw

Live browser capture still benefits from direction. Remove loading time, emphasize the cursor, crop irrelevant chrome, zoom to a result, add readable captions, and use consistent pacing. These layers can be polished without changing the underlying product truth.

A sensible hybrid

Use generation for ideation, alternate storyboards, copy variants, abstract covers, or background assets. Use real capture for the product interaction. Use deterministic composition for brand elements and output formats.

This division produces a video that can look deliberate while remaining auditable. It is also easier to update than a flattened generated clip whose product assumptions are hidden inside a prompt.
