Website Promo Video Maker: A Proof-First Workflow

Plan, capture, edit, and publish a website promo video without recreating the product interface.

A useful website promo video is not a moving screenshot gallery. It is a short argument: this product solves a recognizable problem, the real interface supports the claim, and the viewer knows what to do next.

Start with one outcome

Write one sentence that identifies the audience, the job they need to complete, and the result they should expect. This becomes the filter for every scene. If a feature does not strengthen that argument, leave it out.

Turn page facts into a storyboard

Inspect the public website before writing narration. Preserve the page title, product description, visible headings, source URLs, and candidate actions. Then give every proposed scene five explicit fields:

  1. The purpose of the scene.
  2. The exact page to record.
  3. The browser action to perform.
  4. The caption or narration.
  5. The website evidence supporting the scene.

This structure makes a storyboard reviewable. A maker can reject a weak claim before anyone spends time recording or rendering it.

Record the product, not an imitation

Use real browser footage for the core interface. Generated artwork can help with a cover or transition, but it should not replace product screens. A recreated dashboard can introduce a button, label, or result state that does not exist. That makes the video less trustworthy precisely where it should be strongest.

Add motion deterministically

Captions, cursor emphasis, crops, zooms, transitions, and brand colors should be reproducible. Keep the raw capture and the render manifest so the same storyboard can be published at 16:9, 9:16, or 1:1 without starting again.

Keep the project editable

Save each storyboard revision instead of overwriting the previous one. Store captures, captions, covers, manifests, and final videos with the project. When the website changes, update the affected scene and render a new version.
